Will song lyrics in an artwork violate copyright?

I want to add a very popular, unique section of song lyric to a painting.

I'm asking if this violates copyright, or what would constitute violating copyright.... perhaps in general or as a precise rule.

They're 10 words from the lyrics to the most popular song of the band in question.

Will song lyrics in an artwork violate copyright?
While studying book arts, I was told by my college that using lyrics in our pieces would violate copyright law. I would recommend calling their label or representation and asking permission to use their words. Typically, they'll ask about the number of copies being created, how much of the song you'll be using, if it is being made for profit, etc. If they give permission, they could also ask you to include information giving the artist credit.

Good luck with your painting, and I hope they grant you permission!
