What is a lyric or a set of lyrics from your favorite song that you thing is pure poetry?
the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is my band %26lt;3 :]

"Seasons are changing,

and waves are crashing,

and stars are falling

all for us.

Days grow longer

and nights grow shorter,

I can show you

I'll be the one."
Reply:"Woke up it was a Chelsea Morning

And the first thing that I knew

There was milk and toast and honey

And a bowl of oranges too

and the sun poured in like butterscotch

and stuck to all my senses

Oh won't you stay, we'll put on the day

and we'll talk in present tenses"

--Joni Mitchell--Chelsea Morning

"And as we wind on down the road

Our shadows taller than our souls

There walks a lady we all know

Who shines white light and want to show

How everything still turns to gold"

--Led Zeppelin--Stairway to Heaven (as if you didn't know)

Most anything written by Joni Mitchell is poetic.

I could find MUCH more but I'm controlling myself.
Reply:This is probably not a genre that anyone else will contribute from...

The way Trent whispers the following lyrics is amazingly seductive, especially in contrast with the music/the rest of the album. And no, I'm not gay.

From NIN, Album: Broken, Song: Suck

"A thousand lips a thousand tongues

A thousand throats a thousand lungs

A thousand ways to make it true

I want to do terrible things to you"

Cheers!

Reply:Almost anything that David Usher writes. My favorite song by him, Surfacing, "But high above me I can see the surface now,

The picture perfect life is fading out of view,

And high above me I can feel the world,

But I don't need it,[x3]

I just need you," When he sings it it's even more poetic.
