How can I write better song lyrics?
All songs are poems. Make up a poem, then you will be able to put a rhythym to it, beat, and all the music to form a masterpiece.
Reply:there are a limitless number of exercises you could try. anything that involves creativity would help; also try getting involved in other types of writing (especially poetry. even fictional and nonfiction writing would help). if that doesn't work, try one of these:

1 take a mundane phrase, and make a list of any possible interpretations. try to have a diverse list of interpretations. when you're done, go back your interpretations and now write new lyrics (with literal interp. far different from the original phrase) that fit that interpretation.

2 take a few lines of lyrics from songs you like, and write you're own song around them

3 make a list of emotions, and then come up with metaphors that express them

4 take a song you really like (as far as lyrics), and write a new song with parallel lyrics

5 write lyrics while listening to music, or while doing some new activity or in some new environment

not sure if you like my suggestions or not. if you do, you can message me and i'll email you some more (although, if you do message me, i'm not sure if i'll get the message. yahoo has been a little screwy with my email lately)
Reply:Write down everything you're feeling, then compare it to other things. Random things, like:

The feeling you gave me

Like ice through my veins

I could never explain

What I see

That was off the top of my head, but just pick something random. Compare a feeling of hate to fire, or nails, or talk about how you want to make them feel just like you do.

Write down random words (I keep a journal for this) or phrases:

"Ripped pages, broken windows, leopard print, french kisses..."

Etc. And see how they come together or how you could incorporate how you're feeling.

Looking at this ripped paper

I'm able to assess

How you got me out my dress

That night

Just write down whatever you're thinking, and don't think about making it into a song right then. Just write, and it'll come. That's how I write, and I've written over 100 songs.
Reply:You must find the right words as lyrics that is exactly the same with your emotion....for example, if you're happy, then you create lyrics that is joyful and when it is sung, it's glad to sing...you know. Just remember that your words must be related to your feelings.... that's all I can suggest!!
