The lyrics were written by Jack Norworth and the music was written by Albert von Tilzer. It became part of baseball tradition when during a game FDR needed to leave his seat in the middle of the 7th inning. The game was stopped so he wouldn't miss anything. If I remember the story correctly, the crowd began to get restless, so the organist started playing "Take me out to the ballgame." Since then the song, and the 7th inning streach have become tradition.
