Where can I copyright song lyrics and stories that I have written?
Here is the site for registering copyrights: USPTO.GOV

Technically, the moment you write something, it's yours. Generally, as long as you can get a person to verify the date you wrote the material, you got what is called a common law copyright.

But to be asbolutely safe, your best bet would to register with the cite i provided for you.
Reply:As soon as you commit them to a 'tangible medium" - ie write them down or record them, they are copyright. The process is automatic.

You can also register the copyright in most countries for the payment of a fee. This, in some countries, gives you additional protection.

Google 'copyright office' and your countries name for specific information for your country.

You can always hire an attorney to make sure it is done properly.

I personally hire an attorney to do mine. That way if it is done improperly and I lose money, I have the option to sue the attorney for the money since it is their error!

(I do not personally know the businesses listed, they are just some examples I found) It is good you are protecting yourself. I lost quite a bit of my work before I found out how to protect myself!

Good Luck!
