I have always wanted to write a song about my friend. He past away a little over a year ago. I feel like i never really was able to say good bye to him properly and i thought that is would be a great idea to. I am really horrible at starting songs but when it is started i am able to roll of lyrics very easily. The song is about the memories i have of him and how as each day goes on i remember new ones, somehting along the lines of that.
How can i start to write the lyrics to a song??
There is a style..called free form writing..and its just that..just write down everything in free form..could be several pages..then go back and pick out best parts, maybe rhyming schemes etc...make a begining, middle and end..the ending should tie it all together,or reflect...the chorus needs to repeat the most importnat thing or the hook/title.
Reply:are you kidding... i love writing songs... but i really have to be inspired... but i think your last sentence is great... like it depends what type of song it will be but you can start with something about how each day reminds you of something new... you can go on to illustrate a couple of memories in a phrase...
it's totally up to you... but often i put a lot of feelings and emotions in my songs... and i love your last sentence...
you could even include how you don't know what to say... or how to start... but you really want to do it...
Reply:just write whatever comes to mind.. i write raps and whatever comes to mind i write it and i come up with some pretty dope rhymes and they actually make sense
Reply:Look into your heart and let it flow.
Reply:well you have the motivation, you have the memories, you cant push your mind. set down all your thoughts on paper and then like a puzzle put together a heartfelt song that i will love to hear and will know what you are talking about when you sing it,i will feel like i almost know this person. when you write this song write it for all persons, not just for you. what you have can never be removed, you need to make me feel what you feel.
Reply:Write a word. Even the longest song began with just one word.
Reply:use those memories of your friend as inspiration to right the intro to your song. let them guide you to what you want to write.
good luck :)
Reply:just take all those memories you have of your friend and put them down on paper, the stuuf that used to make you laugh, cry whatever. and then start arranging them into lines and in those lines you can start a rhyming pattern. No one ever said a song has to rhyme, but just honor your friend the best way you can
Reply:Every song explains a story or a plot. Think of one and you have your main idea! Lyrics usually come easily after that but if they don't visit this sites, it should help.

Reply:I like to think of lyric writing like it is poetry. A song should flow but not rhyme (they tend to sound bad) but words can be the same.
A memorial song should be touching and loving, even if this guy was only a friend. Brainstorm some ideas, themes that you want to have in the song, and try to link them together.
Reply:hip hop song called u and me
(Verse1)
i should've said bye
or a hello
now i regret
being alone
should of talked to him more
instead of ignore
now i take things for granted
thats why i say
(chorus)
o why'd you have to leave
o why'd it happen to me
o now i regret the
times that i wasn't u and me
now i sit here
starring at me
remembering when it was u and me
(Verse 2)
PLain look on my face
im goin insane
plz someone help me
im going to feint
he was my buddy
he was my friend
don't take things for granted
thats why i say
(Chorusx2)
Reply:You may have this:
I've been thinking of you for days on end
Remembering the good times of a good friend.
Like the time we....
You gotta fill out the rest
Reply:you could write a poem
and then put it to music.
if ur suckyy @ writing poems
then
write down all the memories (if its a convo. then write it down WERD 4 WERD) and then next 2 the memory write how it made u feel
then combine the 2 and make it abstract
Reply:it would help if i knew the genre.
Reply:in my mind i see you, in my eyes i dont, it seems like yesterday we were*******you finish the rest*********
Reply:start jotting down words that remind you of him.
ex:
red hat.
baseball.
love.
etc....
your ideas will flow once you see these words written down and you'll find your pace much easier - goodlck..
Reply:You should probably have a main idea , like a topic to a song , which will then link up some ideas , which will get the ball rolling , it usually depends on the topic of the song.
