Why can I memorize numbers better than song lyrics?

All my friends seem to know countless song lyrics while I only know a few. However, I hardly need an address book for my cell phone since i've memorized most of the phone numbers. I have so many sets of numbers memorized, from locker combinations from 4 years ago to garage door codes. Am I just using a different part of my brain sort of like how artists do?

Why can I memorize numbers better than song lyrics?
I guess because your are a male person; female mind memorize 'thing' differently that men's mind.
Reply:It has to do with the whole right brain/left brain thing. The left side of the brain is more of the analytical side that can do things like math, memorizing, etc where as the right side is the more creative side that as you said many artists, musicians, etc use. Many people are just stronger on one brain hemisphere than the other and it has nothing to do with anything being wrong with you, but just the way you are.
Reply:Don't think so....the key is repitition. Where they "like" to listen to songs over and over and sing along with them over and over, you have a higher sense of priority in your memorization tactics. The same theory could be applied to math facts and spelling, but they're just not as fun...hence the state of today's youth (sigh). Sorry, didn't mean to go all frustrated parent on ya. If you listen to one song that you like, over and over...and sing along with it....you'll have it memorized so that you can sing it without hearing the music.
Reply:wow, you can be an accountant. dun waste it..
