How do I sell song lyrics to an artist, record company etc?

I have brillant lyrics for a complete song with tune. Need to know the secure way of placing it into the hands of an artist, record label, etc without the lyrics being stolen as someone else has wrote it, maybe even the artist. Also how do I sell it? What is the best advice for this?

First copy write your song! second make the rounds you can go to each record label individually but chances of selling it are 99 percent against you truthfully the best way to do it is to get a up and comer to use it in their act and if a label sees them they may or may not like it but at least it will be out there.
