What's the process for getting permission to quote song lyrics in writing a piece of fiction?

Or can anyone remember a piece of fiction that uses a famous song's lyrics? That's for helping my research.

What's the process for getting permission to quote song lyrics in writing a piece of fiction?
Good Omens keeps referring to Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen. They, (Terry Pratchett, and Neil Gaiman) I belive didn't get permission, based on how they refer to it.
Reply:Generally, a brief passage may be quoted with full attribution as to copyright ownership, authorship and publication details. Excepted would be reviews. Other than that, permission in writing must be sought from the publisher.
Reply:In general quotation does not require permission if it is brief and the source is somehow mentioned. If you want to use a full song you might require permission from the person or company who owns it. You would need to contact that person or company and ask for written permission.
