How do you get song lyrics to record companies?

I've been writing song lyrics for as long as I can remember. I never keep the lyrics. Lately I've been thinking about sending them to a record company, but I don't know how. I only writ the lyric, no beats or backround music. I right song that can be used as pop or r%26amp;b.

ok babe ... this is how you start... everyone thinks the music industry are never looking for new music but thats bull **** , there are always new people getting signed one problem... hardly anyone gets signed by sending a demo to record labels there more interested in hearing you live... u have one chance ... start a band small you sing watever and for that style keyboard, bass guitar and drums and something to give you a 'kick' ie something signature... and second when you start gigging set of an 'industry buzz' like start a load of storys and rumors bout ur band in newspapers etc. make it really interesting to bring in lots of people and labels will look to u ... or try an indie lable mail me if ya want to know more... i'll tell u wat i know
Reply:They won't accept unsolicited artistic material. Like ad agencies and most companies, their employees are probably instructed to return your material unopened or with a note from their attorney. It's one way that they can protect themselves from law suits and misunderstandings.
